ATMO - The Personal Wearable Device.

About a year ago, a group of people started a campaign to fund some piece of Dope Tech they believed in. After paying for it, I must be honest, I completely forgot about it. I suppose it was around the time I was travelling to Ghana to commence a building project and also due to the running around I had to do in Ghana just to get this project kicked off. Anyway, about a week ago, I got an email from the ATMO Team asking me to confirm my address for delivery of my ATMO Tube. Imagine the surprise on my face.

Why did I invest in this product? Well about 10 years ago I developed problems in breathing around every summer. I consulted my GP and he pronounced me as being Asthmatic. Hang on I said to him, is Asthma not a condition developed at birth? After several minutes of education from him and further research from the internet, I was able to educate myself properly on the subject of Asthma. But check this out. My Asthma is kicked off by the amount of pollen and dust in the air, but strangely enough when I am in Ghana my breathing is a fluid as water through tapes. Don't ask, I have no clue as to the reason[s] for this.

The main selling point for me to fund ATMO was because the device was created for people with allergies, asthma and other lung diseases.  Check out ATMO's website for more detailed description of their product.

iPad Pro

Weeks after the iPad Pro was released, I immediately placed my order for one through the Apple UK website whiles I was in Ghana. I must admit, I am an Apple Fan, not over excessive, but within means and design content. Now with regards to the iPad Pro, I see some serious potential there despite what everything some people say about the SIZE of the iPad Pro. I plan of setting up a consultancy business in Accra in the next year or so, and I can see this as being a tool to showcase products to clients.

I also went for the Logitech CREATE Backlit Keyboard Case for iPad Pro - Black, instead of the Apple Keyboard.

Product Description:
Designed exclusively to work with the iPad Pro and its Smart Connector, the Logitech CREATE Backlit Keyboard Case automatically powers on and connects with iPad Pro when placed in the typing position—no Bluetooth pairing needed. The iPad Pro also powers the keyboard, so you never have to think about charging it again. The intuitive keyboard layout helps you take full advantage of iPad Pro's expansive workspace and iOS 9 features.

The iPad Pro, announced on September 9, is the biggest iOS device to date. It boasts a 12.9-inch retina display at 2732x2048. That's 5.6-million pixels—more than the 15-inch MacBook Pro. And it's just 6.9mm thin and weighs in at 1.57lbs.

Inside, it's powered by Apple's 3rd-generation 64-bit processor—the A9X. It also offers 4 GB of RAM with 2x the memory bandwith of the A8X. It comes in silver, space gray, and gold, with 32 GB and 128 GB of storage. The 128 GB version also has optional LTE networking. I went in for the 128GB, without LTE option.

I also went in for the Apple Pencil, although this did not arrive together with the main order as requested. The Apple Pencil arrived three weeks after I had received the iPad Pro.

Parrot Bebope Drone

I fancied a drone. I have always fancied having a drone, so I bought one. I think I am very happy with what I bought. I initially went for another cheaper model being sold by Amazon, but after coming across another brand on YouTube and hence cancelled my original order.

Yes, I went in for the Parrot Bebope Drone, and no, I have not tried it/flown it yet. It arrived not long ago, and I am waiting for the Christmas celebrations to end before trying it out on our local park up the road. My ideal use for this will be when I go to Accra in May and use it to get arial pictures and videos of my building project at Nyaniba.

I was interested to read that drones are being used in Ghana for all sort of things. I do know for sure that GHACEM in Takoradi have one which they use in monitoring the vast estate they have at Takoradi habour. There is a company in Accra - details to follow - which have a number of drones and offers services by way of capturing weddings and other social activities. Other services provided by this company are providing an aerial footage and pictures to landowners and estate developers. Of course the various uses of drones are limitless, especially in Ghana. I am tempted to join this type of business myself.

Finally, I always like to get a video off Youtube showcasing a product. I found these two which give you a better description of the Bebop Drone. Check them out.

My SONOS Play 1 and Play 5

SONOS has always been a product name that has filtered into my ears and out for many years. I have never quite latched on the idea of getting one, but have kept a keen interest in these wireless music players for a long time. I suppose the main reason for keeping away was the price. Often I would come across a review on them on the internet or watch a YouTube video. One particular site I would keep going back to for updates was VOWE. Once you are on Volker's page, just do a search for “SONOS” in his search field, you will be presented with a wealth of information Volker has written on his personal experience with SONOS. The basic concept behind the technology is probably something used by a wide range of of speaker maker is probably the same, however SONOS have gone a step further and added that extra element to their products which make them stand out.
Recently a builder was doing some work next door and he was telling me about how his family bought him a SONOS Play1 as a Christmas present. He set it up and immediately fell in love with it. However he immediately released [as I did when I bought my single SONOS Play1] that having just one SONOS Player was an under utilisation of what SONOS can do when you have more than one. So he purchase an additional SONOS Play1 and then added a SONOS Play 5 and a Play Bar.
After working for Rockwell Automation for 3 years as a contractor, my contract was terminated as the company has outsourced their IT department to an external company HCL/India. As a going away present to myself, I bought myself a SONOS Play1. I placed it in my study and connected it up to network. Even though I had a basic idea of how to set it up, I decided to watch some YouTube Videos first before setting it up.
You might want to watch the below YouTube video. It gives a good explanation ref reasons for getting SONOS and the benefits.

Sarah Lane going through what SONOS does and what benefits it can bring to your existing music system....

Obviously you are free to further view as many YouTube videos on this product so that you can become familiar to it.

After setting up my SONOS in my study and listening to it for a couple of days; I immediately concluded that my single purchase of SONOS Play1 was not enough for me. I went back to back to my local entertainment store and purchased an additional SONOS Play 1 and a Play 5. The Play 5 sits in my study, one SONOS Player is in my bedroom and the other in the Living Room. I am absolutely loving it. You might be wondering why I have the SONOS Play 5 in my study. Well mainly because it has an Audio Input, so I can play directly from my MAC laptop. In time I will get another SONOS Play1 and a Play Bar for the Living Room.

I also purchased a SONOS Bridge to complement wireless connectivity of my SONOS Play1 to my wireless network

BRIDGE | The instant setup solution for your Sonos
Connect the Sonos BRIDGE to your Internet router and wirelessly link every Sonos player in your house. Just connect a BRIDGE to your router using a standard Ethernet cable. Then, a simple button press will start SonosNet, a secure, AES-encrypted, peer-to-peer wireless mesh network that enables all other Sonos products to control and play music wirelessly.

BRIDGE gives you the flexibility to place your Sonos components in any room of the house and connect them all wirelessly. It’s the ideal solution for installing a Sonos Multi-Room Music System in homes with less accessible routers, and allows you to extend the range of your existing network to expand your Sonos wireless music coverage.

I have no issues at all with the Android App. I have two networks running in my house., so at times my Nexus 6 locks onto the second network and fails to find the SONOS Players unless I switch on to the same network on which my SONOS players reside on. One thing to point out is that there is also a desktop app for the SONOS Player. The desktop app is very good and easy to use. As you will notice from a screen shot of my desktop app below, I have the ability to access all players from the app. I am also able to setup favourite stations, access a wealth of other radio station and also have access to my iTunes Music library.

Update - 26-01-2016

My initial investment in the SONOS music system was two Play1's and one Play5. The Play5 is currently sitting in my study and I have one SONOS play1 in the bedroom and the other in the living room, as mentioned in my initial posting. I recently found out that I can have two SONOS play1's in the same room and pair them up so that they individually become Left and Right speakers; so I have purchased another Play1 to add to the one already in the living room. I have configured them as Left and Right speakers and the sound quality is absolutely amazing.

Month of Gadgets - A review of gadgets I recent bought

absolutely love gadgets, however with all gadgets, money is a constraint; so I only buy gadgets I absolutely need. Last month was what i call a month of gadgets. I normally buy a gadget on average every 4 months, however last month I went "wild" and purchased three items from Amazon. The problem with gadget - buying them, is that you have to have a definitive purpose for buying them. The are a group of gadget enthusiast out there who buy gadgets either for the fun of it and end up collecting them in a box and forgetting about them. They crave technology but in an uncontrolled manner. They have this irresistible urge  to purchase these gadgets because it is out there even it it does not suit their needs. Then there is the other groups who buy the latest gadgets to tell their stories of acquiring the latest tech item to hit the market. There are also other groups who buy gadgets for other reasons best known to themselves.

OK, So below are the gadgets I bought. I will put links to manufacturers website for your benefit

1. MPOW Swift Stereo Bluetooth Headsets. There is an excellent review of these headsets here. I absolutely love these headsets. I purposely bought them for the gym. To be honest, when the requirement was needed for a headset for the gym, I think I came across, probably the next day, a post on some fitness site recommending these headsets. I did a little research myself and made the decision to buy them. For the price I paid, I am well happy with them. I actually thought I was going to have a problem with them falling out of my ears, however this is not the case. I did have to figure out how I needed to position them in a way that was comfortable to how they fitted in my ears. The other plus feature I like about these headphones is that you can make and answer calls with them. I actually have used it on several occasions to answer calls. Then there is the sound quality, it is awesome. I cannot fault it.
If I opt to take a walk on any particular day that I am not at the gym, these headphones perform brilliantly.

2Microsoft Band by Microsoft.
The success of the Microsoft Band has been attributed to the fact that it is cross platform It can be used with an Android phone, Windows phone and an iPhone [yak!! yes that is right, I loathe the iPhone]. The Android app is excellent. I do not use a Windows phone nor an iPhone, so I am not able to comment on how the app works on these devices. Fitness is one of my goals this year. I believe that if you are kitted with the right equipment, you are better motivated in not only attaining your goal in being healthier but also monitoring your stages in your quest to be healthy.
This band does other things apart from monitoring health. I can get Email, Facebook, Text messages and Twitter notifications. I understand that if you have a Windows phone, you can setup appointments using Cortana, which is cool.
Check out the review below.

3Razer Ouroboros Gaming Mouse.
I absolutely love this mouse. It is called a gaming mouse and even though I am not an avid gamer, but this mouse serves me very well. When my gaming skills get enhanced, the Razer will obviously help. I have been using the Razer for a few weeks now, and I must say there are a whole lot of features that it offers that I have not touched. This mouse is sleek, precise and comfortable.

4Runaway Bluetooth headset by MEELectronics. .
These are my preferred headsets for when I am driving and need to engage in hands free mode for answering phone calls and also listening to music or Podcasts. The Runaway headphones have perfect sound quality and it is very well built.
Check out the Youtube review below.

There is one more gadget that I bought but had to return it because trying to use it was just too frustrating and a tedious.
It is the Voyager Air Media Hub

The Next Nexus Family For 2016

Check out MBKHD's brief review >>here<<

Bear in in mind, MBKHD's review is only a brief one, and he will be making a full one with all the tests included at a later date.

My initial impressions? Well the Apple iPhone 6S Plus is what I am gunning for in November. I think my decision to cross the fence into Apple Territory regarding phones makes sense.
